Ladenburg (1842-1911) was a German chemist who taught at Heidelburg and Breslau, best remembered for his work with alkaloids and racemic compounds, accurately determining the atomic weight of iodine, discerning the formula of ozone, and trying to determine "the equivalence of the six benzene carbon atoms". His son, Rudolf (1882-1952) became an atomic physicist (DSB, Vol. VII, 552).
